Peonies (Neville Longbottom) - Chaper 1.

This is the second part to a multipart Neville x OC story.

Summary: Marina and her father have tea before the Express leaves for the new semester.

Warning: Mentions of poor mental health, Dementia

Light poured into Marina's bedroom window like honey dripping from a wand. As she stretched out the tightness that sleep had gifted her muscles, the door to the room creaked open, allowing an older man, possibly in his early fourties to peer into the room. She smiled warmly at him as he pushed the door open fully.

"Dearest, you've got tea and breakfast waiting for you down stairs. Would you join me in the garden?" His voice was soft, almost as if her pressence made him nervous to ask for her companionship.

"Of course, Dad. I'd love to." Marina smiled again, stripping way her quilt before kicking into a set of slippers. She followed him down the stairs, and through the creaking house, passed the kitchen table. The pair both took their share in collecting the full, untouched dishes from the antique table before hauling them out to the small patio the hid beyond the kitchen. Settling the meal onto the table of a small cast iron furnature set, Marina smiled, taking in the gentle smell of the fresh dew on the grass.

"You seem in a good mood today, what's changed?" the man asked, taking a seat.

"I'm not sure, just a peaceful day, I suppose." She repiled, stirring sugar into her teapcup before bringing it to her lips to blow ito cool enough to sip.

"Merlin's beard," The man mumbled, bringing the Daily Prophet close to his eyes, adjusting his bifocles.

"What's the matter, Dad?"

He laid the the paper down for her to see, looking at her sadly. "The Quiddich World Cup was attacked last night. We were just watching it on the tele before bed, weren't we?"

"We were..." Marina respinded, setting her teacup dwon on it's saucer, before taking the newspaper in her hands, reading it aloud carefully.

"Breaking news, the Quiddich World Cup has endured a terroristic attack brought on by a rogue cult of Death Eaters. Sources say that infamous Hogwarts student, Harry Potter was in attendence, along with Hermoine Granger, and accompanied by the family of Ministry of Magic employee, Aurther Wasley. Also in attendence were Weasley's co-workers, Amos Diggory, and Lucious Malfoy, with their sons respectively. A full scale investigation by the Ministry is well underway, and the deathcount is still steadily climbing with the discovery of more bodies at the scene daily. Witnesses speculate that perhaps, the cult was after Bulgarian Seeker, Viktor Krum, or even intended to irradicate Potter and his co-conspiritors. No matter what the cause for the attack, we must hold the souls who lost their lives last night in high respect. More details will be provided once they come to light."

Silence fell onto the garden, human voices giving way to the warm summer morning. After a few minutes, Marina's father, uncompfortable in the quiet, piped up.

"Well, we best hurry and eat. We've got shopping to do, after all." He forced a smile, relieved when his daughter nodded in agreement. Although the situation seemed to have resolved itself on the surface, worse things still brewed in Marina's mind. The truth was, her father never was fond of hearing things he didn't like and tended to pretend that dismal things never occoured in everyday life. This was simply a side effect of his mental state, which had been ravaged by what doctors had described as a rare cache of early on-set dementia.

Thomas Rafferty had been a lonely chap most of his life, and lead a quaint, yet lonely existence. Born a muggle, with no prior knowledge of magic or what it was capable of, he became oddly obsessed with anything related to the fantastical from the on-set of puberty, and living in Ireland provided him with a plethora of lore after which to chase. His special interest, however, was captive by the ocean, or more specifically what near imaginary creatures could lie beneath the waves. This lead him to study marine biology in college to seek a certification with which we would relocate to Wales, in search of mythology.

If you ask for his recount, he'll tell you that what he sought was found days after settling into a lighthouse on the island. He'll spin a fantastical epic of love and fairy tales, detailing his chance meeting with a so-called Sea Morgan, and how he charmed the creature into becoming his bride. His stories never once sat well with his daughter, whom he named Marina after the shipping deck on which he'd been standing when he first happened upon his 'wife'. She, unlike her father, was rational and believed that, short of a spell, potion, or hex, anything can be explained in a scientific manner. She often grew tired and annoyed with the rose colored memory that he held onto for dear life, for she knew the truth. Marina was the daughter of a local prostitute who had taken advantage of Thomas, and once she was born, she was bestowed unto him, and her mother was never seeen again. That's what Thomas's mother had said.

Pulled from her thoughts by the sound of dishes crashing to brink tiles, Marina felt a sudden rush of panic until she found her father, still in blue and white striped pajamas, kneeling on the ground, hurriedly plucking shattered porcline from below.

"Father," she stood, concerned and radiating pity for the man, befor erunning to his aid. "Please stop, I will clean this up. What happened?"

Thomas looked her in the eye with a teary smile. "Dear girl, you mother's come back to us, can you believe it?" His hands trembled as he looked away and outstreched his arms toward the open air. "My love, you've found your way to my heart once again, come to me now and let me kiss your hand." His poetry to the empty space was nothing new, but it did tend to make Marina's heart sink to hear. The truth was, Thomas was a gentle, kind hearted man, and a loving father, and he never did anything to desrve the short comings he had. None the less, he had them, and by those means, so did she.

Gingerly, she collected the sharps of painted glass and carried them into the kitchen, setting them in a cabinet that played home to other dishes of the same fate. "Don't worry, Dad, we'll get some glue with we're out and I'll glue them back together once I see you again."

"That sounds wonderful, dear." Her father smiled, following her into the house, seemling unaware oh what he thought he'd just seen. "Now, we'd better hurry to Diagon Ally if you plan to catch the train on time."

It takes a pack to raise a pup

“This is bad... What am I going to do?!” The gofer nervously paced around the infirmary, clutching the bitten arm in his hand before turning to face the Janitor “Please tell me that this is just a bad joke!” He pleaded “Please tell me that this is just a mistake...”

“Sorry ta break it to ya Bud.” The janitor lowered his cap down in sympathy. “But I ain’t jokin’ and I ain’t wrong about this: dat ova here is definitely a werewolf bite. I should know, I saw what my table an’ chair legs looked like after my first few full moons.”

As this was a very serious situation, he forced himself to hold back his laughter at the intrusive memory of his wife telling him that her solution to keeping him from turning the furnature into his chew toys was to swat his snout with a rolled up newspaper every time he ignored his bones and squeaky toys in favor of the table legs. This resulted in him letting out a noise that sounded like a cough.

“B-but what about my Ma and Grandpa?! They don’t even know that monster stuff goes down in the studio! How am I supposed to explain to them that every month, I’m going to turn into a blood-thirsty monster!?”

“If ya don’t wanna tell ‘em, they don’t have ta know.” Wally shrugged. “A lotta wolves don’t tell even their closest family members.”

“What if my Ma questions why all my clothes are getting ripped up?! What if Grandpa finds out when he sees me turn for the first- Oh no... WHAT IF I BITE THEM?! WHAT IF I EAT THEM AFTER I TURN?! WALLY, WHAT IF I END UP KILLING THEM?!”

Buddy felt sick to his stomach as he slumped down to the floor, Wally sat down next to him and patted his back.

“Hey Buddy, you’re gonna be fine. Trust me! There’s a ton of werewolves here at dis studio, none of us would mind showin’ ya the ropes or givin’ ya some good advice for dealin’ with this. Who knows, it might even be a little fun ta get a new pup in the pack.”

“Uuuugggggghhhhhhhhh...”

The Janitor’s words and smile didn’t reassure the nervous gofer, if anything, hearing that he and Wally weren’t the only wolves in the studio made Buddy wonder if the monster that bit him last week was one of his own coworkers. As he thought about it, The wiry music director who was in a constant state of irritation seemed like he was a good candidate to be the wolf who bit him...

He would be lying if he said he couldn’t imagine the man sinking those sharp teeth of his into a human being’s flesh.

“Buddy, c’mon, look at me. It’s gonna be okay, I’m not gonna lie to you, changing is always scary the first few times but you don’t have to do it alone. I can rally up the pack if ya need all of us or I can just keep this between you and me, but no matta what happens, I’ve got your back.”

“Thanks Wally...” He sighed as he still dreaded what was to come. “How soon can you get them?”

“Ta-daaaaa! Welcome to werewolves not-so-anonymous!”

Wally unfurled the crudely-made banner as Buddy walked into the break room, Susie clapped, Henry smiled and gave a friendly wave, and Lacie looked bored and unamused but gave a thumbs up and a half smile.

The gofer let out a sigh of relief that he didn’t know he was holding in. Wally alone could’ve been an outlier among werewolves but not all of them. He knew most of these people; the voice actress was hands down one of the most infectiously cheerful people he’d ever met, The Head Artist was a patient and kind man who the gofer looked up to as both an artist and a father figure, and while he didn’t know the mechanic very well aside from the facts that she wasn’t the most friendly or social of people, she didn’t seem half bad.

These people weren’t monsters, he wasn’t a monster.

“Alright, I know a some of us here already know each other but others don’t so lets start ourselves off with some introductions. Who’s going first?”

“Okay. Hi, I’m Buddy, I’m the studio’s gofer and I got bitten pretty recently so I’m kinda scared about all of this...”

On the day of the full moon, Henry rented a van with the intent to take the werewolf pack to a cabin in the woods so that Buddy’s first transformation would be in a secluded area.

“So how’d your folks take it?” Lacie inquired to break the silence. “They didn’t look happy when we picked you up.”

“They took it better than I expected, I guess?” The gofer sighed “I mean, my ma seemed pretty scared, but she seemed more scared for me than scared of me.”

“Yeah, that tends to happen...” Henry nodded.

“Guys, I have a question”

“Go for it.”

“If Sammy’s not a werewolf, then why is he coming with us? Wont he get turned?”

The music director rolled his eyes and took a very long sip from his coffee, he also wasn’t looking forward to tonight but for a very different reason.

“Nah... Don’t worry.” Lacie laid back and stuck her boots up on the dashboard. “Hell’s Songbird is cursed with something else so he’s immune to lycanthropy.”

Nobody noticed that the man had flinched at Lacie’s statement.

“...Is he basically an unofficial member of the pack?”

Wally and Susie’s eyes lit up at the question and they smiled at each other before answering.

“Yes.”

“Definitely.”

“Absolutely.”

Wally broke down laughing as Susie broke out her stage voice, even Buddy let out a soft chuckle at her dramatic movements.

“The grumpy banjo man is indeed the pack’s loyal brother, not by blood or spirit, but by true love-”

Said grumpy banjo man turned to face the back seat, the regular irritation in his voice gave way to a sarcastic, deadpan tone.

“If you people genuinely think I ‘love’ getting chewed, slobbered on, roughhoused with, pounced on, and ripped apart by a pack of near-mindless wild animals almost every single month, then you’ve probably been huffing too many ink fumes.”

“Yeah, yeah, so bein’ the ‘designated driver’ of da group isn’t always fun... But ya do it ‘cause you looooooooooove us!”

Henry sighed in a mix of annoyance and acceptance in a way that implied he knew exactly what was going to happen next.

“I’m a married man.” Sammy continued to deadpan. “I thought you knew that by now.”

This response only egged Wally on.

“Psssst! He’s not denyin’ it!” The janitor stage-whispered “So it must be true!”

“Shut UP Franks.”

Sammy huffed and crossed his arms, but not denying Wally’s statement, which led to a loop of Wally’s teasing and Sammy’s fruitless attempts to shut the conversation down, which was only ended by reaching their destination.

Buddy felt goosebumps as the van pulled up to the cabin and the sun slowly started to dip down.

“Here we are.”

“Finally! I swear, every single car ride I have with that. walking. headache. becomes the longest one I’ve ever endured.”

“Hey!”

The cabin itself probably looked like a much more warm and inviting place during midday, but as the shadows of the trees started to cast down on the humble little abode, it looked almost sinister. Although, that could’ve just been Buddy’s imagination working against him.

He hoped it was just his imagination working against him.

“Fuck, it’s gettin’ dark real fast.” The mechanic remarked as she looked at the sky. “Should we slap the meat on the grill now or just wait after we change and eat it raw?”

“We should wait.” The animator replied. “At this rate, if we try to cook it we’ll change before it’s halfway done.”

Buddy helped carry things into the cabin; a cooler, a couple of blankets, a duffle bag filled with dog toys and bones, they all seemed like reasonable items, but he couldn’t deny he felt something was missing.

“Hey Sammy, you’re looking out for us after we change, right?”

“Unfortunately.”

“So where are the ropes and chains? And isn’t there supposed to be bear traps and tranquilizers or something like them?”

The musician raised an eyebrow at the gofer.

“...Why would we need those?”

“...To tie us up and keep us from killing people?”

Sammy’s Jaw dropped at Buddy’s suggestion.

“Holy fucking shit... kid, you’re not turning into a monster, you’re just becoming a glorified puppy.”

“But you said it yourself, you get ripped up!”

“So?” Sammy scoffed. “That’s just what all dogs do.”

“He’s more of a cat person than a dog person.” Susie called out from the kitchen “Take everything he says about werewolves with a grain of salt.”

“Easy for you to say!” Sammy called back. “You’re not the one who had to cover over ninety-seven miles in different directions to round up a bunch of whimpering wolves because SOMEONE decided to set off a bunch of firecrackers just as the moon rose!”

“Hey!” Wally called out. “I said I was sorry!”

It was time.

Like it or not, he was going to become a beast.

He knew the others’ own transformations were happening right now, he heard their bones snapping and cracking, the changing shadows cast on the floor as he dashed to his own room praying that he’d make it in time.

In the madness, he saw a glimpse of what Sammy’s curse was. He wished he didn’t see that, it would’ve so much easier to trust Sammy’s protection if he didn’t know that burden of the musician’s curse was like a werewolf’s curse except the ‘wolf’ part was scratched off and replaced with something else. The chill that ran down his spine when his eyes met the monster’s also didn’t help.

Buddy locked himself in his room, quickly taking off his clothes so they wouldn’t get ripped during the change and wrapping himself up in the provided blankets to keep himself from seeing his own transformation.

His heart pounded against his chest as he heard someone whimpering and scratching at the door on the other side.

“Focus, Buddy...” He tried to reassure himself. “Deep breaths, don’t get scared...”

He highly doubted he’d be lucid for his first full moon, but the idea of losing his mind and becoming a ravenous monster just didn’t sit well with him, So he tried his best to stay ‘awake’.

No matter how hard it was.

The curse started off his own changes with either his skin, his senses, or his mouth. He didn’t know for sure as it felt like all three were happening at once as he spat out a bloody mouthful of his own teeth into his hands and watched fur sprout up all over his arms, the taste and smell of blood in his mouth and on his now paw-like hands, as well as the smells and sounds of everything else in the cabin was overwhelmingly nauseating. 

“D-don’t freak out... the others have been through this lots of times... this is completely normal... Stay calm Buddy...”

He tossed aside the teeth and threw himself deeper into the blanket pile in spite of his body’s increasing temperature and new fur coat. The gofer couldn’t tell if the whimpering he heard was coming from the other wolves scratching at the door or from him.

The next thing the curse went after was everything else; muscles, bones, etc.

It was painful, but at the very least it was fast, he didn’t even have the time to whine for mercy before the malevolent force of the werewolf curse stopped. Buddy let out a sigh of relief as he dug himself out of his blanket cocoon.

He looked at the mirror and saw a frightened looking young wolf, his eyes still looked human and his fur seemed to match the color of his hair. While he didn’t like looking at this and calling it his reflection, he couldn’t help but feel a little bit proud of himself. In spite of fear trying to drive him to the same level as a wild animal, he was still him.

Or so he thought as he was startled by the sound of his door unlocking itself and creaking open.

He let out a yipe and started to bare his teeth and growl at the weird beaked creature that poked its head into his territory. The said creature was not impressed in the slightest and simply came into the room.

Buddy growled louder and snapped his jaws at the creature, his ears laid back and his hackles bristling straight up. While the creature did move away from his bite, it was still not impressed. Out of desperation, he lunged at the black-feathered beast, desperately trying to scare it out but the monster looked like it had dealt with this before as it glided out of the way of his attack and picked him up by the scruff of his neck.

The young wolf flailed, bit, clawed, and snapped at the creature. But he could swear that the beast’s only response to Buddy’s last-ditch efforts to keep himself alive were to roll its eyes and toss the wolf out of the room.

And into the line of sight of two other wolves. Both adults, one of them had pitch black fur, the other one had dark gray fur, but both of them had curious almost human-like eyes.

Thankfully, they smelled familiar to him. Even as a human, he could always recognize the smells of cleaning supplies, bacon soup, and ink. As he got a little bit more used to his new senses, while most of the smells and sounds were still new, and there was too much of it, he could at least identify what they were.

The black wolf came closer to him and sniffed his face before licking it. The other wolf pawed the first wolf’s face away from his own. Assuming that this was just some kind of greeting, Buddy sniffed the first wolf’s face and licked him back, the second wolf let out a noise that sounded like an amused snort.

THUNK

A loud noise from the kitchen that came with a new smell made him realize how hungry he was. Assumingly all thinking the same thing, the three wolves dashed into the kitchen to see the toppled-over cooler being raided by two other wolves. The bird like creature was biting and flapping its wings at them, clearly trying to keep them away from the coveted red meats the cooler held.

“STOP. EATING. PLASTIC!” The creature cried out to deaf ears of the pack. “YOU’RE GOING TO GET YOURSELVES SICK! JUST WAIT FOR ME TO UNWRAP THEM FIRST!”

This tyranny would not stand with the wolves, united as a pack, the five starved beasts joined forces against the giant bird-monster that stayed between them and their food.

Buddy woke up groaning with a headache, sore muscles, and an upset stomach the next morning.

Last night was a blur to the gofer, like a dream, the most of what happened during the full moon quickly faded from his mind as he woke up. If it wasn’t for the fact he could still see the bird-monster form of the music director looming over him in the cabin’s rafters, he would’ve chalked the whole thing up to just be a bad dream.

“Sammy?” He groaned. “What happened last night?”

“As soon as I opened the door, all of you ran to the fields instead of the woods.” The music director sounded like he was too tired to be irritated. “I tried to steer you back towards the woods because there was a barn over there, but as usual, none of you listened to me.” Okay, maybe he was still a little bit irritated.

“Oh no... Did I eat anything there?”

“No, but you did get your head stuck underneath a fence and whined until I let you out.”

Buddy blushed in embarrassment as he wrapped his blanket tighter around him.

“Don’t beat yourself up about it, everybody does stupid things the first time they change.”

“So how come you didn’t change back?”

“My curse isn’t determined by the moon, it’s determined by... other things. I don’t like talking about it.”

Sammy wrapped himself up in his wings, ending the conversation.

“G’morning.” Wally set down a fizzing glass of water by Buddy, the Janitor looked more exhausted now than he did after a 12-hour deep clean of the studio. “Ya might wanna drink that, it’ll help with the headache.”

“Thanks Wally.”

He smiled as he sipped down the liquid, while the gofer knew that the changes weren’t going to be easy for him to adjust to, at least he had other people who were willing to help him through it.

I’m thinking of making a comic strip. I’d like to, but I fear my art skills aren’t good enough. I tried this once before, when I was in actual art school, but I was too crazy to complete or even focus on the task. Now I want to give it a shot. It’s called “The Golden Apple” and it’s the exploits of me and my crew in the Toledo Goth scene from 2001-2003 with several of the stories being from Casa Discordia and the insanity there. Some episodes will include... Those stories aren’t even counting the several dozen, impossibly absurd Game Night stories that there are I could tell. And every one of those stories above? That’s just from the Casa. That’s not even counting the stories from Rocky Horror, although strangely enough, Rocky Horror didn’t have very many interesting stories at ALL. Rocky was strange enough as it was, the adventures that occured besides the insanity of the actual show were.. not very funny and usually involved a great degree of unhappiness. Although there were some stories, like “Beatstick, Whackstick, and Fiddlestick”, “Smile like a Donut”, “The Impromptu Wrestling Match”, “We already have a Chastity,” “Papa Smurf and The Ass Warp”, “Fluffy the sheep and Jester’s 12 inch cock” and a few more. Of course, if I were to make this comic strip, first of all, I’d have to get really good at art really quick. Second of all, due to my memory being faulty, I can’t guarantee the veracity and specific accuracy of most of these storys. As such, they would probably be played as heavily for laughs as possible. Most of them are funny already, but they can be funnier. I just... It’s... My parents made a point to me the other night, and the issue with that one Shane story confirmed it. My memory isn’t getting any better with age and so many of these events and anecdotes are dissolving and rotting in my brain. I need to write them down or make some sort of record to preserve what’s left of them before they fade forever. Even if it’s a fictionalized version, I need something to chronicle them with. So who knows. Maybe I’ll start writing some of them up in dialogue form at least. Get SOMETHING down. I’m not sure how well I’ll do arting them but I want to at least try. 2001 to 2003 were the best years of my life and, if I’m not careful, I’ll lose them forever.

Orchid - Raise your glass - P!nk Cactus - French language Bamboo - Nope, I only change for nighttime or if my outfit is particularly uncomfortable. I usually change into pajamas if I do ever change, because why waste a good outfit when nobody would see me anyway? Abelia - Most of my bracelets, especially the beaded ones! Daffodil - Yes. We're similar in interests, we both really like videogames, mostly minecraft and splatoon. But he's a lot younger than me and likes some like mario, which I have no interest in. We're different in the most ways, as he is much better at math than literature, whereas I'm okish at math and really really good at literature. He's also a foodie, and I despise all food except sweets. We both adore those!! Mahonia - Listening to music often inspires me to make ocs or draw and just let the lyrics form the image. Chia - God I have so many. Markie Sharkie. Plain water. Giving your friends headpats. Don't ask- Sage (Ooh, my favorite!!!!) - Poetry is definitely my pick, I love writing my own and reading other people's really inspires me and sometimes even impacts my emotions. Edelweiss - I love it! It consists of moon because I've always loved nighttime and the moonlight outside my window, and Lily because that's a nickname of mine (and what I tend to go by online now). Camellia - I have changed quite a bit from when I was younger. I've had a lot of phases, but my main one when I was super young was just me abiding rules, avoiding most people, and finding fun in drawing and my own imagination. A lot of that hasn't changed, but now I'm a lot more emotional and do place a lot of trust into people. Jasmine - Yeah, the danganronpa 1 anime. I loved it but it was kinda boring, I mostly just enjoyed it because I watched it with my mom (cool mommy moment) and she made it a lot more entertaining with how concerned she was-- Ivy - You can tell I'm happy because I'm practically talking to anybody I could to tell them about what made me so happy and I always have a really hyper smile on my face. You can tell I'm annoyed when I seem more distant from whatever people are talking about and try to distance myself, I sometimes snap if I get too aggravated. Whenever I'm sad I just try to leave immediately so nobody talks to me and tries to worry. I won't ever vent unless I'm really, really upset. When I'm tired I might not use as much grammar, vocabulary, or metaphors. My brain just gayly unalives-- Chamomile - I love gifts that are small but meaningful, letters, stickynotes, maybe small gestures like candy or stickers or flowers. It mostly counts who gives it to me though, not what it is. I still have a soft spot for chocolates though. Aloe vera - Snuggling with a cat. I really want a cat. Palm tree - Monokuma. He's so fucking chaotic I love him. Nutmeg - I don't have a very stylistic room, a lot of furnature to store my stuff and I organized my shelves into sections. One for pokemon, one for squishies (yes I still like squishies) and plushies, one for books and novels, and one for ds games and manga. Papyrus (haha UNDERTALE reference) - Princess Castle, it reminds me of those character playlists I used to listen to. This one I found from Celestia Ludenberg themed ones. Emotionally, I link it with my trust issues. Taro - I'd tell them about my current friends and girlfriend, there's nothing much that's changed about me myself.

An Old Dragonborn’s Second Chance

Alright, after months of procrastinating and not knowing how to continue some things, I finally got this stupid chapter done to a point where I can post it.

I had the idea of doing this from my @illumancer when we talk about our skyrim oc’s and Miraak (and I’m pretty much using her interpretation of him in this story, ‘cause is good)

So anyway, sit back and enjoy whatever it is I managed to eke out somehow

Chapter 1: Awakening

Dark green, a colour Miraak is very familiar with. The very same shade of green he regularly saw within the confines of Apocrypha for all those years. He found himself to be surrounded by that horrendous colour, but noticed that he couldn't move his limbs. He looks to either side of him to see his arms constricted by Hermaeus Mora's tentacles, as well as his feet upon looking down. He starts to panic, struggling in vain to release himself of their hold, but to no avail.

Suddenly, an eye appears before him, and then another, and another one still until he's almost surrounded by these familiar eyes; those of Hermaeus Mora himself. He then hears the Daedric Prince's words echo within the twisted void he's in, saying something he remembers hearing before coming to this place.

“Did you think you could escape me, Miraak?! You can hide nothing from me here!”

Those words; those words again. The same words he already heard before his final moments. And despite hearing those words again, they still stir his emotions just as much; this feeling of fear, despair, anger, every possible negative emotion he could be feeling in this kind of situation is swirling throughout his entire being.

He's scared. Scared and alone, but yet he still struggles, clinging to some ounce of hope of freedom.

“I....” Miraak struggles to speak, trying still to resist the tentacles upon his extremities “I will...forge...”

He pants, still trying to get his words out

“...My own, destiny!” he yells, tears forming on his eyes. But he refuses to break eye contact with the giant eye before him. Mora speaks again.

“No matter” he starts, alarming Miraak

“I have found a new Dragonborn to serve me”

Before Miraak has a chance to say anything else, a tentacle darts towards him ready to end him then and there. Just as it's about to pierce him, everything goes dark.

Startled, Miraak darts up in the bed he's in, panting and in a cold sweat. He takes a few seconds to calm down, and looks down at his hands. He then feels around himself; first his face, then his arms. He then feels a sharp piercing pain in his abdomen, inhaling sharply. He then looks down to see bloodstained bandages on his torso, mostly where he was run through by Mora's tentacle. He then realizes that the last place he was in before now was Apocrypha, and now he's in a bed, and starts to look around at his surroundings. It was a small bedroom, but a cozy one at that. The walls were adorned with two unlit wall sconces, signifying that it may be night time. Beside the right of his bed was a small wooden locker, and to the left was a large bookshelf. He looked around some more, his eyes now used to the darkness and sees that despite the small room, there's a good number of furnature in the room, table, chairs, wall plaques, display cases, shelves, all well made by the looks of it.

“Where.....am I?” he asks himself out loud

Judging by the quality, and sheer amount, of the stuff in this room, he surmises that he must be in the house of someone quite wealthy, but who?

Suddenly he hears a knock at the door, followed by it opening. Despite his situation, he braces himself. The light from outside the door reveals who enters, a tall figure with sheer confidence in her step, her blue skin bathing in the outside light, a dunmer, with a tray in hand. And those violet eyes of her that are only accentuated by her long white hair, which was currently tied in a high ponytail. Miraak knew exactly who this was; it was one of the women that went against him in the Daedric Prince's plain. The dragonborn, otherwise known as Lilith Taldril. But instead of the armour he remembers her wearing, she's currently wearing a pair of basic trousers, and the undershirt of a belted tunic without the leather vest; clothing items that men would usually wear.

Lilith, in turn, eyed Miraak to see how he was currently holding up. His shaggy hair a disheveled mess, the sweat beading down his face, neck, and chest, the scars that adorn his face along with his scruffy facial hair. But what unnerved her most, were his eyes. The sclera of them black, as if the whites of his eyes were burned by oblivion itself, with the green colour to his eyes that she wasn't sure was even his natural eye colour.

But never the less, she kept her cool demeanor in check, if only to give him some peace of mind.

“Well now, seems like my suspicions were correct” she said, a smug grin plastered on her face. She places the tray, that Miraak now sees has food on it, upon the table.

“Suspicions?”

“Well I thought I heard something from your room from downstairs, and I figured it was either you waking up, or demons manifesting in here. 50/50 shot, really” She said, shrugging at her own attempts at humour. Miraak simply just glared at her, clearly bemused by said attempts

Miraak looks around again as Lilith starts to light the sconces

“Where am I?” he asked

“My house” Lilith quickly replied

“Your...house?” Miraak was completely bewildered, she owns such a place? Someone as uncivilized as her? With such nice furnishings? And if he heard her right, she said she was “downstairs”, as in this house has a second floor, such luxury!

“And I,” she stepped down from a chair she was standing on to light a sconce “elected to oversee your recovery after we got you out of Apocrypha......well, after I got you out of Apocrypha” she explained.

“I also got in contact with a healer I know who would help in healing you” she continued, now sitting on the side of Miraak's bed.

“So you better be thankful” she playfully says, winking and pointing at Miraak. He just glares at her again. He sighs

“That's all well and good-” but he's interrupted by Lilith placing a finger on his mouth

“Nuh-uh, food first, talk later” she says, getting up.

“I'll bring in a change of clothes too before you eat, we had to get those robes off of you so you've got nothing under there” she explains. Miraak slightly lifts the covers and looks down. Sure enough; she's right. Lilith looks back towards him before leaving.

“So just wait there before you get up to eat...unless you want to get up and show me the full package, up to you” she flashes a grin at him and leaves. Miraak remains unamused.

He looks down once again at the bandages adorning his torso. So many thoughts swim through his mind; how did she get him out of Apocrypha? Why did she get him out of there? Was it pure chance? Destiny? The will of Akatosh? He just can't wrap his head around it all.

“Why were my plans alone not enough?”

“Does her will far surpass my own?” he thought to himself.

While he's glad to be out of that realm, he's none too happy of it being done at the hands of the dragonborn he tried to kill. But right as he thought that, Lilith reappears in the doorway, with clothes under her arm.

“Here you are, one change of clothes.” She says, placing them on the bed

“They're pretty much the same as what I'm wearing, so I hope you don't mind us matching for the time being” she said half jokingly

“I'm sure I can handle that burden in the meantime” Miraak deadpanned, slightly surprising Lilith. But she just shrugs and huffs in amusement, leaving the room

“Dragonborn....” Lilith turned to Miraak, wondering what he could want. He looks towards her as if wanting to say something, but then looks away

“Nevermind....it's nothing” he says.

Lilith smiles, thinking she knows what he wanted to say, but doesn't say anything about it

“Be sure to eat up, 'cause there's plenty there” she says before finally leaving, closing the door.

Miraak looks to the food, and then down and looks at his hands and bandages. He's not entirely sure how he's going to adapt to all this, but he'll be damned if he won't try, especially when there's answers that he wants

Lucy had made the questionable of joining her boyfriend on the newest case. Since the client she was going to investigate cancled, she decided she’d help out someone else. That someone being her boyfriend, Anthony J. Lockwood. It was a little strange to be dating her own boss, but he didn’t make it a big deal.

Lucy had made decided to get ready for the night ahead of her, leaving Lockwood in the kitchen to overview the information George had gathered for them. He sighed. Investigating a local hotel complaining of furnature moving on it’s own, disembodied voices, shadow people. Overall, it sounded like a normal night to him.

“So Tony...” Kipps got his attention.

“Yes?” He looked up from the paper in front of him.

"You're working Lucy tonight?" He checked.

"Yes." Lockwood raised an eyebrow in confusion. What was he getting at?

"Alone?" Kipps leaned forward a bit.

"Well what if we are?" Lockwood challenged. "What are you trying to say?"

Kipps leaned back, reached into his pocket and pulled out two or three small packages and placed them on the table in front of Lockwood. He peered at the packages before identifying them.

His eyes grew wide and his normally pail face became deep red.

"Truthfully, I don't trust you two alone. I've been meaning to give these to you for a while." Kipps confesed.

Lockwood looked at him appauled and offended. Really? He really didn't trust Lockwood to control himself? Sure, he had found her physically appealing. Her body was perfectly shaped, her skin must've been so soft, and he wouldn't mind listening to her make such inappropriate sounds...

But that didn't mean he couldn't control himself! Before the past few months, he had done but control himself.

He took a deep breath. "Do you honestly think I'd do that to her? I'll have you know, I am a gentleman! And as-"

"Don't give me that shit Tony. I see the way you watch her." Kipps stated lowly, forcing Lockwood to shut up and listen. Something about the dangerous look in his eyes told him that he needed to stay in line.

"I am not saying that you're that immature. What I am saying is that as much as you don't want it to be true, you both are still kids. And with being kids, you make dumb decisions. Thats how it is with all teens. And it's certainly not my place to know what you and her do when you two are alone together. But for God's sake, if you're going to do something like that, I want you to be safe about it. You know what the alternative is if I don't tell you." Kipps stated.

"We're not going to do that." Lockwood stated.

"Well at least take them with you. It'll give me some peace of mind." Kipps bargained.

Lockwood glared at him, shook his head and stood up to get ready. Kipps watched him go and sighed. He picked up the packets and walked over to the coat hanger. He looked around and stuffed the packets into Lockwood's coat pocket. Better safe than sorry.

Lucy sighed, finally finishing unpacking her supplies for the night. Lockwood looked at her. His thoughts weren't to controlled as he identified all of the tiny details about her that drove him nuts. He smiled to himself, drifting off into his thoughts about her. She turned, feeling eyes on her. Standing up she asked "Can I help you?"

He snapped out of his thoughts and shook his head.

"No. Just lost in thought." He smiled at her sweetly. He made sure he had a smile reserved just for her.

"About what?" She questioned.

"Well, you know-" he shoved his hands in his pockets and felt something that shouldn't have been there. His smile dropped and his face pailed.

"Lockwood? Are you okay?" Lucy rushed over to him.

He recovered from his initial shock and stuffed his hands deeper into his pocket.

"It's nothing. It's just... I don't remember putting that in my coat pocket..." He was going to kill Kipps when he saw him again.

"What is it?" Lucy asked.

"It's nothing, Love. Don't worry about it." He smiled walking over to his things.

Lucy knew her boyfriend. He was hiding something from her.

"I wouldn't go looking for whatever's in his pocket if I were you." The Skull piped up. "You might start something... Eventful."

Lucy didn't care what the skull said, she was curious and concerned. What did Lockwood deem strange enough to not tell her?

Cautiously, she snuck up behind him. He looked around, unaware of her creeping up behind him. He was probably survaying the area. She suddenly stuck her hands in his pockets. They had a small struggle of getting caught in each other. When the finally fell to the ground, Lockwood looked up in horror at what Lucy had in her hand.

"Ha! You think you can hide things from me! Well-" She stopped herself when she looked at what she was holding.

A condom.

Lockwood began making incohearant sentances, trying to explain himself.

"Lucy, I swear I didn't- It's not what it seems!" He babbles. Lucy simply looked at what she pulled out of his pocket in shock. When she received from her initial shock, she looked at him. His face was red and he was frantically trying to make excuses for himself. She laughed on the inside. She knew he'd never do this. But it would be so funny to see him razzled up like this.

"I appreciate your creativity, but if you really wanted to do it with me, you could've asked." Lucy teased. She felt her cheeks heat up.

"No, no! I mean- I would like- I mean-"

She crawled over to him and gently shoved the condom back into his pocket.

"Well, if you do want to, we should probably not do it at work." She softly stated. "If you're still in the mood when we get home..."

She placed a quick kiss on his lips, then stood and walked over to her things. Lockwood looked at her in shock.

Not entirely in shock, however. There was that hint if infatuation. And a slight uncomfortableness in a certain area.

Maybe it was a good idea Kipps put those in his pocket after all.

My Diary to the SPN Finale

Day 4. 

I overslept my alarm and was almost late for work. Normally. I have a terrible time staying asleep. Most of you who message me know Im up at 4am sometimes. My life is very stressful so its very hard to sleep, so when I wake up at 4am I always put the boys on, watch one or 2 episodes and go back to sleep/ Last night and the night before however, I slept straight through and past my alarm. “This is great!” one may think, but I spent all day exhausted anyway. What I think is happening, is that even though my body is too tense to rest, it knows to spend an hour or 2 with the boy's won't help. 

I went to work, forgot what I was doing a bunch of times, and forgot how to do some things I've done a bunch of times. I have to make up excuses, I can't say “My fav show is ending and I'm devastated” or people will think I'm nuts. 

At work, all I want to do is come home. But at home, my kids are breaking my heart, my pets are making me insane, and my house is falling apart, and my “security blanket” now feels like jagged sandpaper on my heart.

I'm not a drug user, nor much of a drinker (socially at best) but how stupid is it, that now I want to do both?  Im actually jealous now of those who can drink or pop enough pills to be numb. My vice is smoking. Yesterday I lit a smoke when I left work and a customer said “That shit will kill you” and I answered “I sure hope so”  Im going to give you all a little background history of me, Its ok if you stop reading now, but follow along if you dare😳

Im 52 and have had clinical depression my entire life. At the very least since I was 4. I dont know how it started but its been there as long as I can remember. needless to say my childhood sucked. Anything that could go wrong did. Im terminally single, unattractive, and perpetually poor even though Ive gone to college twice and have 3 degrees. Ive had 4 failed suicide attempts, my first was when I was 12 and ate 30 +\- asprin which only gave me bleeding ulcers and liver damage and 2 years of therapy that was worthless.

In Jan 2014, my life changed. I came into a good sized inheritance from an uncle who was a retired Army Sgt (mujch more about that I dont know other than he fought in Korea) and was left $50,000. (as were each of my sisters) I didnt go nuts and spend this right away, my daughter, father, and I were living in a decent apartment and  was saving it for a down payment on a house. My sisters all used their money to pay off their mortgages and other bills. I was looking for a nice house to buy, but even with $50K I wasnt sure I could handle the property taxes and utilities that had been previously covered by my landlord. My father decided that stairs were no longer something he could handle, so he moved in with my younger sister, so decided that I would just pay a lot of up front rent on our apt and stay there a few more years, but no, the landlord informed us they were selling in 3 months and there was no guarentee the buyer would want to rent out our unit. 

Then my car died, which was what was getting my daughter and I back and forth to work. Now I have to dip into the money and get a car. I got a $7000 used car that we shared and as soon as the warrenty was up, everything failed. After spending $2000 for repairs and it was still falling apart, I get another one... cheaper this time, but hey, it runs. 

Time goes by, we have 30 days to move out, as predicted, the buyer didnt want to rent our unit out, he wanted to move his mother in. So now Im scrambling to find something to move into in 30 days I find a trailer that seemed like it would be a good fit for just me and my dauhter, lots of room, 2 bathroom a nice yard. Im just about to buy said trailer and the park informs me its been sold because a buyer offered cash. Im like “Ummm I have cash too!” and theyre like “oh.... we were unaware.... but hey we have another one for you” and this one is much smaller, but a newer model so it wont need as much work. With 2 weeks left to move, I reluctantly take it. Now, we move, but with no one and I mean absolutely NO ONE to help us, we left 90% of our belongings in our old apartment because we cant lift shit and neither of us could rent a truck, we only brought what we could carry out. and I had to spend the rest of the money on furnature. Of course I lost my security deposit and also had to pay an additional $2000 for “clean up” of my old apt. 

Fast forward to March 1 2015, Im back to broke but still working my ass off. My dryer is broke, my AC and heater, the back door has been leaking quietly for so long you cant step within 2 feet from it or youll go through the floor. Theres a crack in my bathtub that has leaked under the house and is causing my back yard to slowly sink. My daughter works and together we can afford the lot ren, utilities and food. Nothing extra though. We were saving to start fixing things but trying to decided what was most important, and what was most costly. The dryer is cheapest, the leaky tub and sinkling yard is the most expensive but HAS to be done at some poijnt. I buy space heaters and wall unit ACs but that gives me $300 electric bills LOLOL. However I am introduced to SPN and these wonderful boys that I love instantly, and gives me an escape. Helps keep me sane. 

We get things almost together, then suddenly, my father died from the flu Feb 1st 2018. This day was the worst day of my life, it was also the night Various and Sundary Villians aired and after all the tears with my sisters and trying to get arrange,ents made, ALL I could think of was coming home and just escaping into my boys for a while. And I did, and it was a blessing. However, within a couple months, my younger sister and I are hit with my dads bills. Hospital bills, credit cards, car payments on a H3 Hummer he bought a few months before. My older sisters didnt get hit with this because they’re his step children, just my younger sister and I do. $30,000 of debt split between my younger sister and I. I havent been able to pay on any of it because they dont give me any option for low payments. Its like “$1500 by whatevermonth 30th or we take you to court” My sister is handling it ok because her husband makes $$$ but not enough to help me too. So, right now Im just keeping my house heated and my kid and I fed and my lot rent paid. Soon my wages will be garnished and I wont have that either and it will be all on my daughter. Now, my escape, the last thing in my whole world I enjoy is ending. So yes.... Im hurting.

Your eyes widened, and you swallowed, “What chips?”

“You know, my favorite cheddar ones! I only bought them yesterday!” You could hear JIn rummaging around the pantry, opening and shutting cabinets, and even the fridge. You could listen to his loud sigh and his heavy footsteps leaving the kitchen towards the living room where you sat with a book ... and Jin’s chips in your lap.

Quickly, you rolled up the bag and stuffed it under the couch while wiping the crumbs from your fingers. Holding your book to make it seem like you hadn’t done anything wrong.

A pouting Seokjin moped into the room and threw himself at the couch cushion next to you. “I was really craving chips.” He rotated to lay his head on your lap, moving your book to the side, his long legs hanging over the armrest.

He looked so sad that you couldn’t help but lean down and give him a quick kiss, forgetting about the cheddar dust on your lips.

“JAGIYA! HOW COULD YOU!”

“Y/N? Do you know where the CD I had laying on the dresser went to?” Yoongi asked, poking his head in the room, looking a little flustered.

“Uh, the one in the purple case that’s been collecting dust for weeks?” You looked up from your book.

“That’s the one. Where is it?”

“Oh um, well it was just sitting there so I thought it wasn’t very important...” You trailed off.

Yoongi walked towards you, slightly concerned. “Babe... What did you do with it?”

“Nothing bad! I just brought it out to my car to listen to it. I was hoping it would be a bunch of the songs you’ve been working so hard on.” You smiled nervously, knowing what was actually on the CD.

Yoongi sighed, “Well, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now. Hold on, I’ll be back in a sec.” He walked towards the bathroom.

The CD that you thought would be full of finished or demo BTS songs, was actually full of Yoongi’s personal love songs that, in the very last song, he had dedicated to you.

Yoongi came back, holding a hand behind his back. “See, I had planned on taking you for a drive coincidentally and playing you each track and then for the last songs there would be signs on the road with the lyrics. Specifically the last few lines.”

He bent in front of you, not really the kneeling type and casually handed you the box. It was so perfectly Yoongi that you wouldn’t have minded either way.

In a soft tone, he began carefully rapping the last few lines of your favorite song from the CD, “Y/N, my perfect suit to a T, wanna marry me?”

“TAEHYUNG!" A loud holler came from the back of the boy’s shared apartment. “IM GOING TO KICK YOU!” Which was then followed by a loud, puppy-like squeal and a scared Tae running from an angry Hobi.

Tae, the smart little thing he is, ran and hid next to you, knowing that you’d protect him from your scary boyfriend. You quickly went up to Hoseok and put your arms around him.

“Babe, what’s going on?” You asked softly.

“He stole my favorite shirt again!” Hoseok whined, burrowing his face into your neck. You stiffened, glad you had put a hoodie on over the same shirt Taehyung was being accused of stealing.

“Hyung! This time it wasn’t me! I bet it was Kookie. He’s got those beady eyes, perfect for a life of crime!” An innocent Tae pleaded towards your boyfriend.

“Taehyung, do not blame poor Kookie for your ‘crimes’!” Namjoon hollered from his seat on the next couch over. Tae harumphed and crossed his arms over his chest, still standing behind you.

“Hon, maybe Tae didn’t steal your shirt. Maybe it’s still in the laundry or something. But even if he did steal it, or anyone for that matter, you should forgive them and just be ... happy!” You soothed, hoping Hoseok listened to you well. You heard a soft Thank you, Noona from the beagle behind you.

Hobi sighed, “Fine, sorry Tae. I guess you probably didn’t steal it. Y/N is right.” Hoseok snuggled his face deeper into your neck, accidentally shifting your hoodie and revealing the shirt that had caused so much controversy.

Hoseok pulled back sharply. “Jagiya.”

“Yes?” You squeaked.

You stepped out of the shower, fuzzy blanket wrapped around your body. Namjoon stood up from his seat on top of the bathroom countertops.

“Nope, no, not happening. Joonie I just got clean.” You lightly pushed his bare chest away from you, ignoring his protests. “Take your shower. I’m going to get dressed and make breakfast.”

“Jagiyaaaa, our shower is big enough for two, so we should take this opportunity, right?” You just looked at his puppy face with a stoic face. Internally, you were about to break, but Namjoon didn’t need to know that. “Alright fine. I’ll join your clean club.”

“Good boy! Who’s a good boy! Aw, look at my wittle baaaby!” Namjoon gave you an unimpressed stare, quickly glancing downwards with an eyebrow raised as if to say Am I really that little? Wink wonk and promptly turned towards the shower.

You left the bathroom with a grin on your face. The bed was still frumpled and messy from all of last night’s - and this morning’s - activities. You sighed because you know that Namjoon would just skip away from the mess, leaving you to clean it up. Stalking into the ‘her’ closet, you pulled on a random pair of sweatpants that really belong in the ‘his’ and a plain white t. (I’M ROLLING: HEY THERE DELILAH WHAT’S IT LIKE IN NAMJOONS BED??) You grabbed your ring, threw the covers on the bed back up haphazardly and left towards the kitchen.

It was then that you heard Namjoon’s screams of terror. You ran back into the bathroom, heart pounding in your ears. “Namjoon! What is it?”

You heard a loud sigh from the other side of the curtains.

“You moved the body wash again, Jagi. Now I have sugar scrub in my hair and when I realized, I spun too fast to look at the bottle that I knocked your shaver and it cut my arm.” Namjoon whined, poking his head out from behind the curtains. You couldn’t help but let out a large cackle, finding your fiancé’s misfortune hilarious. 

“Maybe I should join you and kiss you better. My razor can be a bitch.” You smirked to yourself.

“I think that’s your best idea yet, Jagi!” His face was an adorable mix of his smile and his smirk. You stripped quickly, carefully setting your ring on the bathroom counter thinking how lucky you are that Namjoon’s razor was gonna prick you hard.

“Jimin.” “Jimin.”

“JiMIN!”

“Y/N, shut up. I’m trying to sleep.”

“But Jiminie, you stole all the covers and I’m freezing.” You complained, shivering on the other side of Jimin’s bed.

“There’s blankets in the closet over there,” He pointed very vaguely towards the hallway? Or maybe the closet? You couldn’t tell.

“Jimin, please share your covers with me?” You tried once again. Your childhood best friend was so annoying. He even forced you to stay at his new apartment after helping him unpack because he wanted to celebrate, but you had a feeling he was just a little scared.

You got no response. “Okay, Jimin. I’m gonna call Namjoon to pick me up, then.” That made him react.

He sat up - slowly but progress is progress - and looked at you with a pointed glare. “Y/N. No. I’m your best friend. You don’t need to be with him all the time. I’ll go get you a blanket. I’ll even get you that fancy heated one that your mom gave me.” He clambered out of his bed, making his way into the hallway.

You smirked. “He is my boyfriend, ya know?”

He grumbled quietly to himself, stretching up to the top of the closet for the blanket. “Yeah, I know.” He finally grabbed it and made his way back to his room where he found you curled up with his blanket, passed out. 

“At least she’s in my bed tonight,” Jimin mumbled bitterly, throwing an arm over you and snuggling into the person he’s been in love with for 18 years. The person who will never love him back.

“Baaaabe! Please talk to me!” You pleaded toward Taehyung who was stubbornly refusing to even look at you after he found you curled up in his chair.

See, when you had forced Taehyung to go shopping with you a week and a half ago to replace your old, dingy furnature in your shared living room, he had fallen in love with a creme colored leather rocking recliner. It came with swing out cup holders and even a phone charging port.

When he sat down in the chair at the store, he not only shed a tear, but woldn’t let you sit in it so that you “wouldn’t feel heaven and therefore would never steal his chair from him.” You groaned at him before flagging down a salesperson to show you to the more practical, cuddle-able couches.

Instead, Taehyung asked them for a brand-new, never sat in chair to be sent to your house.

“You were teasing me Tae! I couldn’t not know what it felt like after you’ve been pushing your feelings for this chair down my throat for an entire week!”

Taehyung flared his nostrils at you before picking you up and dramatically tossing you on the couch. “You picked yours and I picked mine, Noona.” He sunk into the cool leather. “Oof, the seat is warm from you.”

“Good! Embrace my body heat. I’ll sit on the couch all alone and stretch out, and even though this couch is perfect for two people to lay on, it’s even better for just one.” You said loudly, trying to guilt trip the man.

Two days later, a distraught Taehyung, and a trip back to the furniture store, you and the oversized manchild sat on an even newer brand new couch. One that was basically two creme colored rocking recliners with slide out drink holders and phone plugins but they were connected. Perfect for cuddling and sharing body heat.

“I thought you loved me. I thought wrong.” Jungkook said before he turned tail and walked right back out of the kitchen where you had been eating cereal with his special golden spoon.

“Ya! You used all of the other silverware and I was hungry!” You chased after him, abandoning your bowl. You found him looking out of the window dramatically.

You giggled a little to yourself before swallowing Jungkook in a backhug.

“Y/N, you have your own spoon so why did you have to use mine?” He asked very sternly. He was referring to the two sets of silverware you bought when you first moved in together. All of yours were pink and whle you tried to beg him to get the blue ones to match, he chose the golden ones. Of course, you had regular silver sets as well.

“My spoon was dirty,” You answered simply.

“And what about the guest spoons?”

“You used the last one yesterday so right now they’re in the dishwasher.”

“Why didn’t you use a fork? I know there’s plenty of those.”

You rolled your eyes against his back, “I can’t exactly eat cereal with a fork, can I?”

“I’m sure it’s possible.” You gripped him tighter and pressed a few short kisses to the back of his neck.

“Kook, what can I do to make it up to you?” His breathing started to get heavier from the kisses paired with the tone of your voice. Your breathing followed suit.

He turned in your arms to face you, “You can buy me a new spoon. That one’s ruined now.” He lightly pushed you away and walked off towards your room.

Who said black cats were just bad luck? (Prompt: Stars)

Nathan Arch and Joey Drew had been ‘friends’ since the pair were young boys. Nathan was a studious child who even at a young age, took his family’s image and reputation seriously and saw supernatural forces as nothing more than silly superstition and myths. Joey on the other hand, was an energetic and mischievous little imp of a child who believed in the supernatural forces. So naturally, they hated each other on sight at first.

In childhood, the boys’ relationship was strained even further by their parents forcing them to be the best of friends when the pair barely had anything in common aside from their mutual dislike for having their afternoons, weekends, and summers being ‘wasted’ in each other’s presence.

This had led to Nathan bullying the smaller kid, nothing like punching or kicking the impish boy, Nathan Arch was no brute. But he did make fun of Joey, a lot. Most often by mocking his supernatural interests, calling them silly and childish as well as occasionally ruining the boy’s belongings whenever he was too irritated to deal with him. Joey of course didn’t take this lying down and had retaliated by playing nasty pranks on Nathan; shaking up soda bottles, putting creepy bugs in his things, drawing rude pictures into his school books, things like that.

Nathan compared the ritual circles in Joey’s father’s books to something like “wishing on a shooting star, but this one is just drawn on the ground with chalk.”, and Joey would fill his school bag with earthworms. Joey would tie Nathan’s shoes together and laugh as he fell on his face, and Nathan would throw one of Joey’s sketchbooks in a muddy puddle.

Then, ‘the incident’ happened and Joey returned from visiting Henry’s hometown with an injured leg and now had a haunted look in his eyes.

The boys’ petty rivalry was snuffed out soon afterwards; Nathan knew that guilt would eat him alive if he tried anything and Joey seemed to wrapped up in his own struggles to even bother trying to mess with Nathan. Either out of pity, guilt, or a mix of the two, Nathan did try to reach out to Joey, whether it was with a ‘get well soon’ card that came in a gift basket or seeing him in person at the hospital, but it was obvious that it was a bad idea for him to push anything further.

Whether their parents decided it was in poor taste to continue to shove them together in the hopes of them being friends or some Doctor gave an order for Joey to rest, the two drifted apart shortly after the incident.

A few years later, Nathan Arch had gotten into a good college and was just setting up his side of the Dorm when he heard someone else come in.

“Archie? Is that you? How long has it been?!”

Turning around to face his new roommate, Nathan Arch’s eyes widened in surprise at the sight of the man he hadn’t since childhood. Joey carried around a cane now for obvious reasons, he had gone from a pipsqueak of a child to a beanstalk of a young adult, and he was a lot neater (at least, appearance-wise) than he was as an unruly little imp. But the mischievous spark had been re-lit in his eyes.

“Drew? Why, I haven’t seen you in ages!”

He hesitated for a second, what was he supposed to do? It wasn’t like he could just pretend that their history was nothing but dust under the rug, but at the same time, he’d much rather carry on a conversation that matched Joey’s upbeat tone... No, this was just like medicine, swallow it down first and fast, and then it does its job.

“Joey... About how I treated you when we were kids... I’m Sorry. It was petty and cruel of me to take out my frustrations on you when neither of us had any say in the matter of how our lives went. And I deeply regret it, I can understand if-ACK!”

He was cut off by Joey crushing him in a bear hug.

“I forgive you, you verbose, pompous airbag.”

Rolling his eyes at the insult, Nathan hugged Joey back.

Having Joey as a roommate was an... interesting experience. It was a mostly positive one as in spite of his cheerful demeanor and strong preference towards the arts as opposed to business or something of that sort, he was not a man child and did follow the rules and assigned chores of the dorms.

Compared to other students at the college, Nathan probably lucked out when he got Joey, but there was just one little thing about Joey that bothered him, nothing too serious, just a little itch of a problem.

For the most part, Joey talked about his father’s arcane tomes and spell books a lot less than he used to as a kid, but now on the once in a blue moon occasion where he did speak of the occult, he took it a lot more seriously. Perhaps even more seriously than christian priests teaching the word of God. The man treated magic how Nathan wished Joey would treat money; warning against using it frivolously, not using it when he didn’t need it, and looking into the pros and cons of each and every spell before using it.

It didn’t come up often enough for Nathan to be too nervous, but there were a few instances in college where Joey’s occultism was strongly noticeable, and not just on Halloween...

While Nathan was mature enough to keep his thoughts to himself, some things could never change. Like his views on the supernatural. He still saw magic as something fictional, but he also saw how important it was to Joey, and part of him feared that bringing up his opinions about magic would send the two back into being rivals, so he kept his mouth shut.

While the four years of college flew by a little too quickly for Nathan’s liking, he was pleasantly surprised by how well those four years had not only repaired his and Joey’s relationship. Going from near strangers with an unpleasant history to genuine friends who kept in touch with each other even after college was just a memory in the rear-view mirror of the past. Heck, Joey even was the best man at Nathan’s wedding! And he had the pictures on his mantle piece to prove it!

Nathan was looking through a scrapbook Joey had made and sent to the happy couple as a wedding gift. It contained various pictures of the dates the two went on and the last few pages were pictures of the proposal itself. Nathan smiled as he flipped through the book, wondering what kind of gift he should make Joey in return for his own wedding (if he ever decided to marry).

But that smile fell into a concerned frown as he saw the last page; symbols he recognized from Joey’s spell books: a long forgotten language within a circle that entrapped an upside-down star. The ‘explanation’ was that this was a good luck spell wishing him and Tessa a happy future as husband and wife.

He sighed, closed the book with a little more force than he meant to, and flopped down on the couch. As if she could sense that he was upset, Tessa had come into the living room right as he tossed the book to the other end of the couch.

“Nate? What’s wrong?”

“I’m scared, Tess.”

“About Joey?”

“Yes, I had assumed that he’d grow out of this silly superstitious nonsense sometime when he genuinely matured into adulthood, but if anything, he’s gotten even worse! It’s one thing to go to church every Sunday or to read a Torah, but at best what he’s getting himself into is setting himself up to be scammed by every phony fortune teller on the block and at worse it’s genuine devil’s worship!”

Tessa nodded in sympathy.

“So do you just need to get this off your chest or do you want advice, Dear?”

Unbeknownst to the couple, a shooting star past by outside.

“Well, as much as I’d like to get advice, I don’t know what on earth could work, Joey and I were practically at each other’s throats all the time before ...his incident. While “magic” was there for him for his entire life... I want to help him out of this but I don’t want to lose him as a friend. I just wish I could understand him and why he’s so invested in all that sorcery-crap!”

“You know Nate, sometimes I feel the same way.”

“The floor’s all yours, Doll.”

“I think I can understand the appeal of just wanting to snap your fingers and make every problem you have get carried off by living furnature or whatnot but magic always seems like it’s out to get you! I wish I knew why anyone for that matter would see magic as anything other than trouble.”

The pair sighed in unison and it was Tessa’s turn to flop down on the couch.

“So Tess, where did you get the new hat?”

“New hat?” she raised an eyebrow and reached up to her head “I don’t remember getting a new ...hat...”

She took the pointed witch’s hat off of her head and looked at it in pure disbelief before looking back to her husband and practically jumping back in fear.

“Tessa?! What’s wrong?!”

“Nathan... D-don’t panic, but...” she fumbled around in her purse for her compact case before pulling it out and clicking it open, handing it over to her husband.

Nathan’s jaw dropped open by a cartoonish degree as he saw his reflection; white fur was quickly sprouting up all over his face, getting framed with black fur that spouted on the rest of his body. In a matter of mere seconds, he didn’t even look like a human being anymore! He looked more like that fat cat character in the comics he saw Joey draw.

He looked down at himself and screamed when he saw that the rest of his body had also changed, and when he looked back up to his wife, he screamed again as he realized that she too had gone under some kind of transformation.

Her normally brightly colored attire was replaced by a floor-length black dress. She was still human, or at least, much more human than he was, but she looked simplified in a sense, more like a living drawing of herself. Her pie-cut eyes were filled with concern as she saw the fear in his eyes.

“Oh don’t tell me...”

Nathan bit his lip and nodded.

For example, for full coverage with the minimum amounts and highest deductibles, my insurance on a 2010 Mazda 3 would be about $1800-$2300 for 6 months. A coworker of mine is 21 years old, not married, no tickets, and has had his license since 18 like me, and he has a 2007 Mazda 6 and he only pays about $170 a month, which translates to about ~$1050 for 6 months. I am currently working a temporary job away from home in another state not my permanent residence (I am living there for the term of the employment). While there I bought another vehicle and registered it in that state and when insuring it moved my other car to the policy not realizing this could cause a problem. Now on my first vehicle, which was registered in my home state, the home state has refused to renew the registration because it carries out of state insurance. However, I also don't own the first vehicle, it is owned by my parents who are a resident of my home state, I just use it and pay the insurance. So unless I am missing anything, It looks like I am basically going to be forced to register that vehicle in a state where I do not have residence or cancel my insurance policy and get insurance for only that vehicle through a provider in my home state. I'm confused because they let me renew last year even though I had the out of state insurance, but I had switched during that year so maybe they considered me part-time or something. Remember the little things.

It is hard when you watch a family member as their health decreases. Some people remember only the good or the bad memories with that person.

I remember both...though I remember that I never had any bad with my grandfather; He taught me how to be polite and very much a Lady, but when someone got physical with me and I decked them he pulled the "You are in so much Trouble young lady." To as we got into the car it was "Your getting an ice cream, sure you may have punched a boy and a girl- but they assaulted you." And this man happened to have a reverse opinion of women compared to most.

He knew the women in his family should do what they love doing, he never got on my case for drawing on the furnature or walls, in fact he supported my art- something the rest of my family did not.

He taught me about computers and coding, he taught me how to grow my own garden, how to build something out of nothing, how to fix plumming, how to repair various items. I could anger him by my stubbornness or I could get him to laugh and tell me stories about when he was in the war, what it was like for him to work on the computers and then hear about how he worked in the computer industry and then worked at Boeing but my favorite memories are the ones where when I felt like I was failing he would pick me up and he would tell me not to give up.

The good memories with my grandmother actually always seem to deal with baking and making home made jam...or involve sitting watching soap operas and eating pop corn. It's even harder when you know that once again you'll be going through another loved one's belongings they leave behind.

People over think and forget to sit with their loved ones and ask them about certain items that obviously hold a sentimental value to them; I can not lie I have always had my eye on a doll that my grandmother has had since I was little; To me she's the most beautiful thing however the small doll happens to be in a bottle and I had never asked my grandmother about her until Christmas this year when I gathered the courage to do so.

She told me that the doll was given to her when she was three years old, that my great grandmother had gotten them for each of the seven girls; she and my aunt just happened to have been given one at the same time.

I smiled and laughed a bit saying "I have always wondered how something so small could fit into a bottle."

My grandmother looked at me smiled sadly and said to me "I have always wondered the same thing."

My grandmother has never told anyone about this doll, not once has she told the story even when I had asked her about it as a child.

She has kept this doll since the age of three, but whenever she has talked about my great grandmother she has always spoken of how stern and nasty she was- when she told me the story about this doll, it was very different; she smiled she told me how my great grandmother told her she loved her, that she was hard on her simply because she saw a lot of herself in my grandmother and knew my grandmother could make a difference; my great grandmother was proud of all her children but to this day my grandmother still beats herself up over a baby brother she barely knew, even keeps pictures of all of our family members. She has four volumes of photos and one album dedicated to the trips she and my grandfather went on.

She has decided that the albums will be passed down to me where as my grandfather had decided on his death bed that his journals and anything else I had wanted would be passed down to me.

But the hardest thing to see when I visit my grandmother is the neatly placed belts, ties and Suspenders that unlike my grandfather's many suits, boots and hats- have never left the closet space where they have hung since before my grandfather's passing, and they still have his smell on them.

It is always the little things we forget, but there are always small things we remember, we may not remember ones voice but sometimes it's the smell that haunts you.

I'm sitting under the light of the moon, shining down on me. My fingers strum at my acoustic guitar, plucking at the strings and they're getting kind of numb from doing this all day. I only made probably twenty dollars today as it was a bit rainy. It sucks, in the summer I can make about a hundred dollars in a day but it was only spring and it was normally too rainy for people to be out walking around until the summer.

I close my eyes as I start singing 'Mean 'Ol Moon' by Seth McFarlane, such a fitting song for such a clear and lonely night.

" Oh, Mean 'Ol Moon... It must be fun, to shine down on me while I... Come undone. " I coo, rocking to the melody of the song, " 'Til I'm all alone, beneath the sun... You Mean 'Ol Moon... " My voice is low and melodic in an attempt to be soothing. I look around at the small gathering of people walking about under the shining sky, lit up by the stars and large moon hung by strings above our heads in the gloom of the evening.

I felt kind of bad for possibly ruining their night with my sub-par voice. One of the women in the group tugs one of the man's arms and points at me. I give her a soft smile as the song gets close to an end.

" Takin' all the light that's left in you, and savin' it up, for you know who... Yo Mean 'Ol Moon... You Mean 'Ol Moon... " I purr as the song ends and the woman hurries over with her assumed partner in tow.

"Sir! Sir!" She speaks, "Do you happen to do requests?" She pants smiling at me, a beautiful young lady with that look of love in her eyes for this man she'd dragged over here with her.

"Why, yes I do, young lady, what would you like to hear?" I smile at her and she gets very excited.

"Could you play ' Can't Help Falling In Love ' by Elvis?" She's so happy that I just can't say no.

"Of course, lovely." I smile at her and I play with the nobs on my guitar, getting it in a higher tune and getting my kepo out of my bag so I could make it sound like I was playing a ukulele.

"Thank you so much!" She gushes and grabs the guy by the hand to get him to dance with her, he smiles at her with passion in both his eyes and his smile.

I strum the strings, my fingers passing the shapes on the neck of the guitar, starting the song off soft, the words lulled and gentle the couple swaying and dancing together to my shitty voice. The night was nice for it though, kind of warm and comfortable. There were fairy lights hung up in the trees and on the railing of the little walkway/bridge and along the outsides of buildings, they twinkled like fireflies. I loved them, that's why I preformed here most of the time.

My voice picks up, my strumming following suit and the woman smiles as I do. It's almost over but it looks like they never want it to end.

Just as I'm singing the final line of the song the man drops to one knee before her and pulls out a ring box.

"We met here three years go, a man was playing this exact song right here when I asked you to dance with me and right in this very spot is where I swallowed my worry and asked the prettiest girl I'd ever seen to go on a date with me and so, now I shall ask this same girl in this same place a very important question..." He pauses and swallows hard, "Will you marry me?" He flips the box open and she already crying, telling him a million times, yes.

I smile as I watch it happen. The man then turns his attention to me after a short moment with a huge smile, "Dallon, right?" Says the man and I look horridly confused.

"Yes? How do you know my name?" I cock my head to the side.

"I met you the day I met, Lindsay here. I thanked you for guiding me to this beautiful girl and you said your name was Dallon." He smiles, "I'm Gerard." He sticks his hand out to me and I take it, "Thank you again for sealing my future."

"I must be the fate-maker huh?" I chuckle as I remember that night, it was a sweet night really, "I'm glad that I was able to push you to together with my sub-par voice." I get a laugh in reply.

"You're an amazing singer. You should start a band, Dallon." The girl grins and wraps her arms around the man, kissing him softly, "We should go though, we have people waiting inside for us. It was nice to meet you Dallon the fate-maker." She grins and runs off with her fiance as I mutter a 'you too ' in reply.

The days get warmer and more people fall in love to my stupid voice and barely-tuned guitar while I watch from the sidelines. Sleeping the days away in a fake awake state, my eyes wide-open, my smile glued on, my voice loud and guitar louder but I'm not awake, not remembering, shutting down. I was almost twenty-seven years old for christ sakes and here I was playing guitar outside on a daily basis, selling music to bands for extra money. Somehow I managed to support myself well. I had an apartment that wasn't too bad, some nice furnature, piles of instruments... How I managed? No idea. Probably because I didn't have a car and didn't have to deal with that every fucking day. And also because I was living with a friend and his girlfriend...

It was a cool evening, a soft wind sweeping over the ground in late May, I'm out strumming my guitar as always, singing whatever seemed to come to mind.

" This love has taken it's tole, on me, I've said... Goodbye, so many times before-... " I sing sleepily, it's nearly ten in the evening and I've been out here since ten this morning.

I stand and make my way back to my apartment once I have finished that last song.

When I toss the door open I can hear shouting. Matt and his girlfriend are fighting yet again. I drop my guitar down by the couch and go to the kitchen, grabbing an energy drink from the fridge. I'm getting myself a frozen slice of pizza when I hear the shouting get louder and a loud smash from the living area. I run out to find Matt with my guitar in her hand and the glass coffee table before him.

"Dude what the fuck!?" I yell, pulling the instrument from his hand. This was my favorite one and I spent a lot of money on it, "Are you fucking insane!? " I shout and he looks really sorry.

"Dallon, I am so sorry... I thought it was mine." He apologizes.

"That doesn't change the fact that my favorite, and super fucking expensive guitar is now busted and I have to send it to get fixed!" I huff.

"Matt." His girlfriend snaps, "I want you out... And you too, Dallon." She points at the door and my blood runs cold.

"Why me!? I didn't do shit! I pay rent and everything!" I toss my hands in the air in frustration.

"Because, I want to live alone. It's my apartment, your friends with my ex -boyfriend so you can go live together somewhere else." She's pissed.

"We'll just go stay with my family then!" He shouts back at her and I sigh.

I'd lived with Matt's family for a week once while between houses and it was a nightmare. I was so angry with him and I'm not sure how I'll be able to not hate him after having to stay with his family again.

Two weeks. Only two weeks and I'm already on the verge of blowing my fucking brains out. I get home at probably about midnight every night because of how far his house is from where I play and then can't sleep till two. Then his family has us up at fucking seven in the morning, they won't even let just me sleep. They're all so loud and obnoxious for me as I am not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm seated at the table as everybody yells and jabbers and talks so early in the morning as we prepair for breakfast. My head is rested in my arms on the table and I'm almost asleep again being so sleep deprived I could sleep through a nuclear war going on right in the front lawn. I feel a hand slam into my back causing me to jolt upright.

"What are you doing sleeping!? If you sleep all day then you have less of a day to live!" Matt's dad, John says and I fall back to the table.

"I'm barely alive as it is." I grumble.

"Nonsence! Why would you say that?" He's so loud and I'm ready to gouge my eardrums out.

"I'm sleep deprived from being up until two every morning and being awoken too early." I mutter.

"You'll get used to it!" He hits my back again and I groan, trying to sleep again.

A few couples stop to listen, dropping some change into the new guitar case I'd just bought so my beautiful guitar wouldn't be destroyed yet again " 'Til I'm all alone, beneath the sun... You Mean 'Ol Moon... " I sing slowly. An elderly couple stops and listens, the woman pulling out her wallet from her small purse with her shaky old hands and flips through the bills slower than I'm singing.

She pulls out a twenty and drops it in the case, her and her husband going to walk off but I can't let them leave without making sure that's what she meant to give me, "Ma'am! Ma'am please wait!" I call, standing up and she stops, turning to look at me.

"Yes, young man?" She asks me softly.

"I just wanted to..." I grab the money from the case and go up to her to hand it back, "You dropped a twenty in my case and I just didn't want you to leave without knowing that's what you gave me." I place it in her hands.

"Oh, I meant to give you that, young man. You're an amazing artist, please keep it." She pushes it back to me.

"Are you sure?" I gape at the money.

"Yes I'm sure. You have a great night and get yourself something nice with that money." She pats my arm as she couldn't reach my hair. I was a good foot and a half taller than her at most.

"Thank you so much Ma'am. Have an amazing evening!" I speak as I go back to my position on the little wooden wall. I'm beaming as I start the song over, having stopped in the middle.

More people come and go, dropping change and some bills in the case. I'm taking a small break, sipping some water when I notice a boy, probably a few years younger than me stood over by the bridge, he's texting and the light from his phone makes his face glow.

I pick up my guitar and start to strum at it, tuning it slightly. The boy stuffs his phone back in his pocket and crosses over to my side of the street, seeming to be in a bad mood.

I start to pluck at the strings in hopes to calm his nerves, he's very handsome now that I can see him up close. He slowly passes me, somewhat listening to the tune of the beginning of my song while looking at his phone again. I decide to freestyle and make up the rest of an unfinished song of my own.

" Could this be love at first sight or should I walk by again? " I watch him intently, " You're photogenically dressed, the conversation begins. " I hum, still watching him. He gets slower, listening more to me now, " Oh God! Oh what did I say!? Let me start over again... " I'm smiling as he sits down on the curb a few feet away, typing away on his phone.

I pluck a small tune at the strings as I don't know what to say next, " Could this be love at first sight? Oh, wait, I said that before... " Some people stop and listen to my song but I don't even notice them, they're dropping money into my case, some even recording it, " I need a place for the night, happy to sleep on the floor? " The boy glances over at me.

" The boy turns back and starts to grin, but turns away just as fast.

People begin to clap along to the song, never had I had a crowd like this, " Wouldn't you like to0- Wouldn't you like too-! " I bring the pitch of my voice up and some girls cheer softly, " Dance with him-... " My voice drops back to normal, " Darkened nights and violent things, vaudevillian girls and violin strings... " My fingers move and voice continues without my mind which has wandered. The lyrics that I hadn't even finished yet seemed to come naturally, " All of these are the prettiest things when I'm... In... Love. " I drag out the words without a problem, my voice steady and smooth, my fingers playing the tune that I seemed to know by heart when I had only just made it up.

The tune is sweet, a love song at it's best, I move along to the sound, my body swaying gently and my eyes fluttering closed in contentment, "Turn the- lights off, I'm- falling in love-... All of these are the prettiest things when I'm... In... Love!" I finish, plucking the strings a few more times and letting out a heavy breath.

All the people clap and drop some change and quite a few bills into the case, speaking praise and telling me how amazing I was. I'm thanking them but absentmindedly, my eyes are locked on the boy on the curb, dressed in his leather jacket, a white t-shirt and black skinny-jeans. Sunglasses rested in his nose as he tapped away at his phone with his long fingers.

As the crowd dwindles down the boy stands from his place and walks up to me with a grin on his pink lips.

"Do I have to walk by again or do you think this is love at first sight?" He smirks and lifts his sunglasses onto his head to get a better look at me. He had beautiful honey-brown eyes, his face was slender and he had a nice jawline. His hair stood somehow, taller than his large forehead.

I grin at him, "You already walked past once so I think this is the second time technically." I laugh softly, pushing my hair out of my eyes.

"So I hear you need a place to stay? And you said you'd be happy to sleep on the floor." He looks me over, his eyes trailing over my lanky figure.

"The ' wouldn't you like to ' bit is a couple years old but the rest was an on the spot freestyle." I admit and his pretty eyes grow big and he steps back a bit.

"Wow, I praise myself on being a good song writer but never have I made anything that good in general, let alone in the matter of about three minutes." He sits next to me.

"Well I was inspired." I look over at him and he's already looking at me.

"So, I'll give you that kiss you wished for if you stay at my place." He bargains, very poorly.

He pulls away as he starts to laugh, "I'm a crazy slut but I've never done anything as crazy as this."

"Kissing a stranger?" I tilt my head to the side.

"No, falling in love." He smiles, "I guess it's love at first sight."

I stand and hold my hand out to him. He takes and stands as well and his eyes get wide again, "Oh my god you're so tiny!" I call.

"No you're just freakishly tall!" He shoves me but I don't budge. He pouts like a child (Which is the cutest shit that I've ever seen).

I pull him into me, my arms going around his neck as I hold him, his face in my chest. He squirms out of my grip and continues pouting. I squat down a bit to be his height and he starts to laugh.

"To my house?" He asks, it was only nine and I was debating whether I should stay and play more or if I should go with Brendon.

"Well, it's a lot earlier than I normally leave..." I say, still pondering.

"I can help you preform. I can kind of sing myself." He beams and I nod.

"You're probably better than me."

"Who knows." He smirks, we sit again and I strum at my guitar and he starts to sing my song.
